Privacy Policy

Synapse (the app)

Synapse is designed so that your notes and vault content stay on your devices under your control. We do not operate a cloud backend that stores the contents of your vault.

  • Local data: Notes, settings stored with your vault, and similar data reside locally unless you choose to sync or back up using your own tools (for example, Git or third‑party cloud storage).
  • Credentials: If you configure integrations (such as tokens for optional features), those credentials are handled according to the app’s design and your device security. Review in‑app documentation for details.

We may receive crash or diagnostic data only if you or your platform explicitly enables reporting mechanisms (for example, through Apple’s crash reporting). We do not use that data to sell personal information.

This website

When you visit this site, our hosting and analytics providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and approximate location derived from IP. We use this to operate and improve the site.

We do not use this policy to override any cookie banners or consent tools required in your region; where those apply, they control storage and similar technologies as described there.

How we use information

We use information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain Synapse and this website
  • Respond to support requests
  • Understand aggregate usage and improve our products
  • Comply with law and protect our rights

We do not sell your personal information as that term is commonly defined in U.S. state privacy laws.

Sharing

We may share information with service providers who assist us (for example, hosting, analytics, or email), subject to appropriate safeguards. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and integrity of our services.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of personal information, or to opt out of certain uses. To exercise these rights, contact danny@wanderingghost.us. We will respond in line with applicable law.

Children’s privacy

Our services are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

International visitors

If you access our services from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Effective date” above. Continued use of the services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law.
